Biography |

David J. Mitchell holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from West Virginia University and has completed advanced studies in a Masters of Electrical Engineering at WVU and a Masters of Business Administration at the University of Dayton. During his career, Mr. Mitchell has started over 10 technology-based companies and guided them through rapid revenue and profit growth. In addition, he has led a $1B/year international company in the development and application of new technologies and the sale of Intellectual Property for over $250M. Mr. Mitchell's research activities were initially in the field of automation as applied to mass transit, including a period as the Chief Engineer for the Morgantown Personal Rapid Transit System in Morgantown, WV and part of West Virginia University. The MPRT was the nation's first, fully automated transit system serving a Central Business District and continues to carry over 18,000 passengers daily. From there, Mr. Mitchell was invited to join Battelle Memorial Institute, an internationally known technology development and application enterprise with over 3,000 staff worldwide, to continue his research activities in the development of close headway (3 second) automated transit systems. At Battelle, Mr. Mitchell's interests branched out to all modes of transportation during which time he was also asked to establish a new transportation division. This division performed pioneering research in the fields of traveler and traffic information systems, alternatively fueled vehicles and aviation safety. In 1995, Mr. Mitchell was also asked to join the Office of the Chief Executive Officer at Battelle where he and his associates developed a new strategy for Battelle leading it to a four-fold increase in revenues ($1B/year to $4B/year) and management of over five national laboratories for the US government in the fields of energy, environment and national security. Following a very rewarding 20-year career at Battelle, Mr. Mitchell now uses his talents to assist start-up companies establish themselves, acquire funding and develop and introduce new products and services. Included are companies such as LogicTree – named 76 th fastest growing company in North America on Deloitte's 2006 Technology Fast 500. Mr. Mitchell is also co-founder of Bangalore Technologies, LLC, a developer of embedded computer systems, co-owner of Global Language Translation, Inc., an interpretation and translation company serving clients such as Marriott International, National Geographic, US Department of State, the White House and several law firms and commercial companies and Principle at Multi-Modal Leadership, an executive coaching practice he founded. |
